First Corinthians 1:25, …”The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” When I first read this verse, it confused me a bit. I wondered if God could actually have a weakness, but it’s really very obvious. Practically any parent will tell you their greatest weakness is their children. God’s love for us is his weakness.
He says in Matthew 25:40, “Inasmuch as you have done unto one of the least of these my brothers, you have done unto me.” His suffering on the cross answers many questions if we think about it. How much does it hurt God to hold the ones that he holds? How much does it hurt him to let the others go? You can see the answer upon the cross.
Yet, in his weakness is the secret of his greatest strength. Without the crucifixion, he could never have won the hearts of those he holds. It is as he said, “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2nd Cor. 12:9)
very well said
Thank you onevoice2010. I wanted to check out your blog, but it doesn’t come up. The name “godscommonsense”, a graphic, and the message “Not found” come up but nothing else.
it might hurt him, but trust me, it will hurt us a LOT more..
God is more than willing to let people burn in hell for eternity for picking the wrong religion from amongst the thousands of choices..
Jim,
God has always warned man of creating idols. We create images in our minds of what we think God should be. Wherever these things conflict with the living God, it causes him pain (crucifixion) as well as it does us. If we pass these false ideals of God, or idols on to others, it leaves the world with “thousands of choices,” and utter confusion.
That’s one reason God became a man and submitted to crucifixion. It’s like a great question, “Now can you see who God really is, and how he cares for us?” The picture that the crucifixion presents, is that of a God who desperately wants to save us from an eternity without him. “He is not willing that any should perish.”
